Quick Fix x 2

With a cup of coffee, you sit down in front of your computer, and are excited to get a jump
start on your online course work. You spend 15 minutes catching up on the latest forum posts and then decide to dig into the videos for next week. You hit play. Nothing happens. You hit play...still nothing...You refresh your browser. Nothing. Frustrated you send off a quick e-mail to your instructor about the video issue and shut your computer. Your plan to get ahead on your coursework foiled.

Or is it??? Here are two quick fixes that you can try when a video or page doesn't load.

Quick Fix #1: Try a different browser. If you were using Firefox, try Chrome. Working on Chrome, try Safari. Using Internet Explorer try Firefox. Not all browsers are the same. In some cases, different browsers work better than others.

Quick Fix #2: Make sure the browsers that you are using are up-to-date. Up-dating your browser will help ensure that your pages load properly. Click here to access directions for updating different browsers.

Share your LMS Content With Others

We have been sharing eCurriculum content that has been added to our K-12 Online system that teachers can take and add to their blended or online presence.  Some of these came from classroom developers across the globe as well as those in Iowa. One way for you to give back is to share your online or blended class content with others.  If you are interested in sharing your class through our eCurriculum Catalog please contact AEA PD Online and let us know. We would love to have Iowa teachers share the wonderful things that they do in their classroom with others.  Look for these additions to our eCurriculum Catalog in future postings.

New Training System Feature - Notifications

Iowa educators may have received a surprise email in their inboxes today, as we have turned on the automatic notification feature.  Now, the system will send out an email under the three conditions:

1. You have been assigned a training by a district administrator
2. You have a training that is not complete, and the due date is a week away
3. You have a training you completed previously that is now expired

The purpose of the notifications is to help serve as a reminder system for educators.  We are excited about this additional feature for both districts and employees to benefit in the learning process.

An employee can choose what to do with the reminders.  If you would like to turn your own email reminders off, you can do so from within your profile area (the same place where you edit your password or email address).

AEA PD Online Training System Upgrades

http://training.aeapdonline.org
AEA PD Online's training server houses professional development modules and self-paced courses for Iowa educators.  This system will be off line for upgrades on Monday, July 6, 2015 starting at 8:00 am.  The system should be back online sometime after noon on the 6th.
Some of the system updates will include:
  • Users will now log in using the email of their account.
  • Users will be asked to update their profile information including BoEE folder number and district information.
  • Districts will have more administrative functions to personalize the system including;
    • creating district groups,
    • automatic notifications and expiration notifications,
    • exporting of district usage reports,
    • uploading of district created modules,
    • and many more functions.
Based on user feedback, several things have been updated to make it easier to find things that users access the most.  This includes a cleaner look to the site navigation as well as easier ability to access certificates.  In future blogs we will highlight some of the new functions.
