Iowa educators may have received a surprise email in their inboxes today, as we have turned on the automatic notification feature. Now, the system will send out an email under the three conditions:
1. You have been assigned a training by a district administrator
2. You have a training that is not complete, and the due date is a week away
3. You have a training you completed previously that is now expired
The purpose of the notifications is to help serve as a reminder system for educators. We are excited about this additional feature for both districts and employees to benefit in the learning process.
An employee can choose what to do with the reminders. If you would like to turn your own email reminders off, you can do so from within your profile area (the same place where you edit your password or email address).

Important Changes for Administrators Coming to the Training System
We have many changes coming to our training system on July 1; we will be highlighting those changes over the next few weeks, including a tour of the new site just before it goes live. Today, we are focusing on several important new features for a local administrator to personalize the system for their own district.
Clicking on that will then add the module in the district list. As an admin, you can easily "unfavorite" it if you would like.

Note, the system also will be updating its browsing features, making it easier to find trainings (now that our total is well over 100)!
By entering in the "hex codes" for colors (see your school's web designer or art teachers if you have not heard the term "hex code" before) as well as uploading your logo, you can transform the system into this:
1. "Favoriting"
We have several districts that heavily utilize the "district module" area, including uploading and creating their own trainings. Now, you will be able to add statewide trainings to that area as well, so you have one area for teachers to look at all the trainings. When logged in as and admin and looking at the trainings, you will see a "favorite" button.Clicking on that will then add the module in the district list. As an admin, you can easily "unfavorite" it if you would like.

Note, the system also will be updating its browsing features, making it easier to find trainings (now that our total is well over 100)!
2. District-specific Training Information
Ever want to add district-specific information to a training, such as who the local contact person is for MSDS sheets in the Right to Know training? Or where particular policies are posted locally? Now you can. Within trainings, districts can modify the district-specific pages to add their own information. Unmodified pages will simply refer participants to check with their local school officials about those policies.
3. Customized Theming
This one is very exciting. Each district can customize the look and feel of the system. Here is a look at the interface:
By entering in the "hex codes" for colors (see your school's web designer or art teachers if you have not heard the term "hex code" before) as well as uploading your logo, you can transform the system into this:
And, there's much more, including the ability for districts to create their own self-pace courses, assign modules to groups of employees (e.g. custodians, first-grade teachers, custodians that are also first grade teachers), and send out notifications. Be sure to check the blog to see more updates this month!

Medication Administration trainings
In conjunction with the Iowa Department of Education, we are revising the Medication Administration trainings. All non-nurses in Iowa who dispense medication are required to complete training in medication administration. In addition to the main training, there are several other trainings specific to individual cases (e.g. nebulizers).
Changes to the trainings will be completed over the next week. The updated medication administration manual will be made available in mid-May.
To access the Medication Administration trainings:
1. Go to http://training.aeapdonline.org
2. If you do not have an account, click the “Register here” link. Fill in the required fields. Be sure to select your AEA first, then your district, and then add district password. If you do not know your district password, please visit with your supervising nurse or building administrator, or contact support@aeapdonline.org.
3. Once you have an account, login
4. Make sure you are on the “courses” tab, and then click the “catalog” tab underneath.
5. From the list, select the Medication Administration training(s). You can filter the list by clicking on the Medication Administration button on the right. Once you click on the training, click on the “register” button that appears below.
6. On the first screen, you will need to click the “continue” button.
7. You are now in the training. Proceed through the training by clicking the “next” button, and completing the quizzes at the end of the sections.
8. Once you are finished with the training, you will see directions to “Go to UR”. This is our registration system and acts as a 2nd verification. Make sure the information is correct.
9. Once you return back to the training system, make sure you are on the “courses” tab, and click on the “completed” tab underneath.
10. You can select the training, and then underneath, click on the “certificate” button to bring up a certificate of completion.
